So yesterday was my first huge experience with the new changes to oRVR. I will start off and say that I like some of them, and really dislike some of them. First off Fortress Doors. They are now weaker than a keep door, so the multiple warbands just mow right through them. So instead of getting the feel that you are in some mighty fortress, it feels like you are sitting in a shanty. So before people had time to arrive and start setting up a defense, they are already through the front gates and probably close to getting through the second.
Zone flipping in general is a lot better. In fact a couple of posts ago I was talking about wanting less influence put on the zone flip by scenarios and more on actual oRVR and that has happened. Zones have been changing hands ever since, and people are starting to defend keeps a lot more. This has lead to several well arbitrated clashes, and a ton of fun. I think that they really got this part of it right, there is a lot more attempts to push zones and it is more focused on oRVR and less on other areas of the game.
Really those are the only two areas that I saw, and the latter one, fort doors is really a minor one. So over all this patch has been rather nice to oRVR and as I am seeing on the forums and my buddy Fatpork mentioned to me people are pushing into cities more and more. It is nice to see this advancement, although I don’t know if they have fixed the city PQ contribution.
